This Week in Room 120
We are finishing our oceanography unit, which focuses on ocean features, water, motion, and life. This week we are concentrating on water motion and life found in the ocean, as well as reviewing.
We are working on persuasive writing and irregular verbs. For reading fiction we are continuing to summarize and predict. We are also identifying the differences between fact and opinion, as well as determining cause and effect. We are working on specific skills in our reading groups, such as visualizing and identifying author's purpose.
We are finishing our Decimal Computation unit and have our test on Friday. Next, we will be starting Geometry.
We are finishing up the Midwest region of the United States.
Our Class Vision, Mission, and Goals
Today our class decided on our class vision, mission, and goals. After multiple discussions, we have decided to be Miss DeGoey's Dream Team and wrote our mission statement together:
Our vision is to be Miss DeGoey’s Dream Team. Our goals are to pass our SOLs, graduate fifth grade, and become better readers. To do this, we will continue to read, challenge ourselves, be determined to learn, and work together. We will work as a class to solve problems you wouldn’t even “dream” of. We will cooperate and collaborate to learn. We will do our best, have fun, and make friends by being kind and having self-control. IF WE CAN DREAM IT, WE CAN BE IT!
