Snow Snow and More Snow
Hello. I hope the students have enjoyed the several snow days due to the blizzard. Hopefully, all families fared well during the snowstorm. Please check the PWCS website for any schedule changes related to the snow days. Here are some of the announcements below:
Recent weather-related changes have led to the following:
More information can be found on the PWCS website. I look forward to seeing the students once school re-opens.
- The Teacher work day originally scheduled for Monday, February 1, will take place, as planned. There will be no classes for students on Monday;
- The end of the second grading period and associated distribution of report cards will be delayed by five days. This will affect delivery of transcripts to colleges; however, schools will be advised and likely understanding of the circumstances;
End of 1st Semester
Our students are working hard each day on content material as well as their own personal goals. Students are currently learning about skip counting and telling time in math class. In reading class, our students are working on letter identification, sight word identification, phonics activities, and comprehension activities. The students especially love all of the "Pete the Cat" books.
We are currently coming to the end of our 2nd Nine Week Period, and the end of the First Semester. Report Cards and Progress Note information will be sent out soon.
Hello parents. The students continue working hard toward their goals each day. Morning circle / morning meeting is one of the favorite activities for the students. During this time we work to build communication skills by participating in SMARTBOARD activities for the Pledge of Allegiance, good morning greetings, attendance, calendar, and weather. Students can participate in the activities via use of switch devices, SMARTBOARD pointer, use of vocalizations, or eye-gaze. Music is incorporated into most of the activities. The students especially enjoy the days of the week songs as well as weather songs. The morning circle is a very important part of our daily routine.
Important upcoming dates:
October 28: PictureDay
November 2: Teacher Work Day (No school)
November 3: Conference Day (No school)
Back To School Night
Hello. Our back to school night will be held Monday, September 28th from 7pm to 8pm. Our class is made up of students in various grade levels and I chose to hold our Back to School Night for all students on that Monday (rather than holding two separately). A letter was sent home at the beginning of last week regarding Back to School Night. I hope to see you all there, but it is not a requirement. Have a great week.
Adjusting to New School Year
Hello everyone. Our students are adjusting well to the new school year. We continue to work toward practicing daily routines and working in our groups for academics, centers, and life skill activities. Our students are currently working on phonics based reading activities for language arts. For math, our students are working on number identification and number sense activities. Have a great week.
Welcome to Our Class!
We are so excited to begin the new school year! We hope everyone had a wonderful summer. This year there are some students in my class from last year and we have some new students as well. Mrs. Plummer and I are excited to see all of you. The first day of school is August 31, 2015. We will send home a Welcome Letter and Supply List on the first day of school. Thanks.
