Welcome to Miss Dentner's Class!
Hello! My name is Alyssa Dentner and I am a first year teacher at Signal Hill Elementary. I recently graduated with a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from Penn State University. I also have a minor in Special Education. In my free time, I enjoy anything sports related (especially my beloved Nittany Lions), decorating, and traveling. I love building relationships with my students and helping them learn how to work cooperatively together. I have always been passionate about teaching and love making learning fun! I am so excited to be here at Signal Hill and look forward to watching your children grow!
We are more than half way through 1st grade and we have been learning and growing so much! We have been busy reading, writing, adding, subtracting, weighing, measuring, and participating in science experiments! We are strengthening our reading skills through guided reading groups, as well as, independent reading. We also write daily in class! We have been using our spelling dictionaries when we write to ensure that basic sight words are spelled correctly.
After we get back from break, we will be learning about repeating and growing patterns, non-fiction texts, and map skills! Over break, please keep reading and practicing your math skills. RAZ kids, Starfall, and ABCYA are great websites!
Have A Great Break!
Have you joined our Class Dojo page?
I use Class Dojo as a classroom management tool. It is a great way for you to see how your child is doing throughout the day, as well as a way to communicate with us as teachers. If you haven't signed up yet and are interested, please let me know, and directions will be sent home with your child.
