About Me
My name is Lorri Dyson. I am a native of South Carolina. I received my undergraduate degree from Benedict College in Columbia, SC and my Master's Degree in Advanced Studies in Teaching and Learning with emphasis in Reading from George Mason University. This is my 33rd year of teaching. I am looking forward to meeting you and working with your child this school year.
Field Trip
We took a field trip to National Museum of American History in the fall of the year. We will take another one in the spring of the year to the American Indians Museum. Please be on a lookout for information as time draws near.
Technology
We are working on DreamBox and IXL(Math) and Raz-Kids (Language Arts) in the computer lab. Please have your child to work on these activities at home. These will help your child to become more fluent in math and reading.

username: PVPS
password: fredthegreat Brain Pop Jr
Make sure you use Brain Pop JR to login, as that login will not work for regular Brian Pop. The password is also all lowercase letters.
2. E-Learning
https://en.e-learningforkids.org/math/
This website has many resources for students. They can navigate through the many videos to watch, and take a short quiz at the end to see what information was retained.
3. https://www.typingclub.com
This website will allow your child to become familiar with the keyboard! They will find it enjoyable, and entertaining.
Inclement Weather
In the event of any unexpected closures, delayed openings or early releases due to inclement weather, please have your child read for 20 minutes and work on DreamBox or IXL for 20 minutes. DreamBox and IXL are both computer generated math programs that supports the PWCS second grade math curriculum. Please encourage your child to log on and practice using these programs– watch as your child improve in speed and accuracy, and watch as your child advance through levels. In addition, I will be able to see, at a glance, which student practices, and for how long he/she practiced.
At-Home Project
Our At-Home Project will be a monthly themed activity to be completed at home with support of family members. It usually follows a monthly "Special Day", and will be due before the middle of each month.
Scholastic Book Orders
I will be sending home the monthly "Scholastic Book Order Forms" on the first of each month. You may go to scholastic.com/reading club to place all orders. Please note that I will submit all orders by the 15th of each month in order for the students to read their books before the next month's flier comes in. Many of Scholastic books follow a monthly theme. Therefore, I will be submitting all orders the first/second week of each month to give the students ample time to read their monthly books.
