Math: Patterns, Functions, and Algebra
Order of Operations, Number Patterns and Relationships, Variables and Open Sentences, and One-step Linear equations. We will also review the Distributive Property.
To review for the upcoming Math SOL, our class will work together to complete all units of study via Math Madness. In addition, all students are required to get on Jlab each night for homework and email the results to me. An instructional letter about Jlab went home the week of April 3rd.
Science: Earth Science
Layers of the Earth, Plate Tectonics, Plate Boundaries (Divergent, Convergent, and Transform), the Rock Cycle, Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic Rocks, Weathering and Erosion, Minerals, and Characteristics of Rocks and Minerals. Students will also be able to identify specific rocks and minerals using dichotomous keys.
Writing: Persuasive and Informational writing. Students are currently researching S.W. natural landforms as well as designing their own powerpoint for presentation. Finally, students are also working on critical vocabulary.
Reading: Guided reading groups and book clubs are working on all metacognitive strategies in reading.
