Hi, I'm Ms. Nichols and I am thrilled to be teaching at Signal Hill! I received my Bachelor of Music Education from Bowling Green State University and my Master of Music Education from Boston University. This is my fifth year teaching at Signal Hill and my seventh year teaching. Prior to teaching in Virginia, I taught in Massachusetts and at a Montessori school in Ohio. I love sharing and presenting everything I am learning as a teacher and have presented for the Kennedy Center and for the PWCS elementary music teachers.
Signal Hill ES Music
At Signal Hill ES students receive music once a week for 45 minutes. Students will sing, play instruments, learn about composers and music history, learn music notation, and participate in dances from around the world. Students in grades 3-5 will learn recorder. All grades will perform at concerts throughout the year. All concert notices will be sent home and updated on the website.
I also conduct the SHES Chorus. Fourth and fifth grade students are invited to join the SHES Chorus. The chorus meets every Monday morning from 8:05-9:05 and performs at various events throughout the school year. I am also the co-chair of the PWCS All County Elementary Chorus and will be selecting three fifth grade students to participate.
I will be using Twitter to post updates, information, and news about music events and your student's musical learning throughout the year. Please follow the music program at @SHES_Music.
I will be posting monthly newsletters containing the content of music classes for each grade. The newsletters will also contain activities the students can do at home to further their music learning and important dates/information regarding music class. Newsletters are located in the "Files and Documents" section of this website.
SHES Chorus News
Chorus rehearsals are every Monday at 8:15. Students may enter the stage at 8:15. SHES Chorus t-shirt order forms are due on Friday, October 28th. The form was distributed at the Monday, October 17th and is also located under the "Files and Documents" page. Students need to bring their chorus folder to every rehearsal. Thank you!
